The Hospitality, Recreation, & Tourism Pathway
Pathway Description:
The Marketing & Hospitality Pathway consists of three courses, which focus on the development of business and marketing skills including: customer service, promotion, advertising, sales, and the management of hospitality related businesses.
Students develop these skills through computer projects, group projects, and various hands on activities. Completion of these courses will help students build skills for the workplace as well as for advanced studies. Students interested in owning their own business or just developing skills for college and/or a job, will enjoy this pathway.

Employability Skills - Learn to run a business
Hospitality Marketing student businesses are another part of our program at DCHS. We have a school store, print shop, and a clothing closet. Students are encouraged to participate in these businesses before and after school as well as during some class periods. Students will gain valuable work experience by participation in these businesses. Students who excel may be able to apply to be school store managers their final semester of the program.
End of Pathway Exams - Get Certified & Earn College Credit!
After completing the first three pathway courses, students will be prepared to take an End-of-Pathway exam in order to certify their knowledge, skills, and understanding of course content. Students who earn a high enough score, can earn college credit in the Hospitality Management field.
**Students in the Hospitality pathway will take the NOCTI Lodging exam. This exam focuses on the marketing, management, and employability skills learned throughout the pathway.

DECA - Co-curricular student association
A big part of the pathway is DECA. DECA is the Marketing and Entrepreneurship student association. DECA allows students to practice what they are learning in class through community service activities, fundraising, selling, and competitions.
